I have a Bachelor’s degree in biology and I'm an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), as well as a certified lactation counselor (CLC).
I became interested in lactation after experiencing a wonderful breastfeeding experience with my first baby, as a way of healing and processing from a birth that did not go according to my expectations. I enjoyed breastfeeding so much, I bought a lactation textbook just for fun. Then I had a challenging breastfeeding experience with my second baby. My concerns were dismissed by a pediatrician – who said that they weren’t concerned about my pain – and I knew that I had found my calling.
I’ve heard many stories about infant feeding, many good and bad experiences with lactation consultants, people saying “Oh, I could have used your help with mine!" As a military spouse, I understand that support systems can be difficult to find. Many times, people don’t know what services will be available when they come to a new area and tend to adopt a routine of simply doing without. Families are strong and resilient, but still, we all need a little help sometimes. There is help available! Please contact me (or another IBCLC) so that you can be supported and empowered.
Professional areas of interest and advanced training received in:
symptomatic oral restrictions (a.k.a. tongue-ties)
neurodiverse affirming care
perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (a.k.a. postpartum)
My approach is: what's your goal? Then I make a plan to help you reach it.
I can help with everything - latching, pumping and bottle feeding, from latching for the first time to introduction of solid food and weaning.
I specialize in helping all families facing complex feeding challenges find achievable, guilt-free feeding goals.
My mindset is: is this sustainable? I want to solve your frustration problem, not just a feeding problem. I want you to feel like every day is doable!
I embrace holistic and evidence-based care.
I have specialized expertise and work collaboratively with your pediatrician, occupational therapists or speech therapists, dentists or other members of your healthcare team.
I partner with you to highlight the positive and anchor your focus to your most important priorities, so you always feel supported - so you can find your flow.
